Dear Brother Muhyiddin Ali:
Thanks for your contribution to the commemoration of this very sorrowful anniversary of the departure of Martyr Osman Saleh Sabbe for his eternal rest.
However, hoping that you do not mind, I would like to make the following corrections to what you or Nawud wrote whatever your sources may have been.
1-Osman went to Addis in 1950 as a scholarship student from Hargigo school as one of ten students, and they joined the Medhane Alem School.
2- Due to their weakness in English, they had to redo middle school in Addis, and they completed the 8th grade in June, 1953.
3-In October, 1952 a second scholarship group of 15 students went to Addis from Hargigo school, and they joined the Teferi Mekonnen school.
4- In the long summer vacation( July-September,1953) they stayed together in the General Wingate school, where in August, 1953 they signed with their blood to work and struggle for Eritrean independence. They were

A week later, they started a hand written weekly newspaper that they called Al-Nahda, and which they continued producing until Osman left Addis at the end of June,1954.
5-Osman joined a one-year teachers' training course at the end of September, 1953, and completed it in June, 1954.
6-At the end of Ramadan in his last year in Addis, Osman and his friend Abdurrahman Muzayyin (An Ethiopian Werj-Oromo) initiated celebrating the eve of EID AL-FITR by the Muslim students in Addis, and it has become a tradition up to this day.
7-Osman started working in Hargigo school in September, 1954 first only as a teacher for a year, a teacher and director from September, 1955 to June, 1958, and as a teacher only from September, 1958 to June, 1959.( He was replaced as a director when he was arrested for his political activism in June, 1958)
8-In August, 1959 Osman went to Assab where he stayed working as an assistant manager with the Savon Riyes shipping copany until December, 1959 when he crossed to Yemen with the help of Afar sailors. From Yemen, he was smuggled into Saudi Arabia by an Eritrean from Senafe by the name of Mohammed Asmerawi.
Corrections
Osman did not do his high school studies in Addis. He did it by correspondence while working in Hargigo school followed by a degree in History and Political Science while still in Hargigo.
Osman did not form an association with Ethiopian Muslims although he had many close friends amongst them including Somalis, Oromos, Hariris, Gurages, Tigriyans, etc, etc.
Al-Orwatal Wusta Association was formed in Hargigo to give a religious cover for the political activism of Osman and his friends.
He signed with his blood with the two Hargigo school scholarship groups.
